MGM 5K on the Runway

THE MONTGOMERY REGIONAL AIRPORT WILL HOST ITS INGURUAL RUNWAY 5K  JUNE 10, 2023 BENEFITING THE RIVER REGION UNITED WAY.

The Montgomery Regional Airport is excited to host its first Runway 5K. The MGM Runway 5K will be located on a closed course on the airfield with roughly four miles of runway. Racers will run on Taxiway Bravo, Delta, Echo, and Runway 3-21 south, which are all located beside our active Runway 3-28. Runners will have a chance to run beside aircraft and get a close-up view of aircraft landing and taking off. The uniqueness of this event allows runners to experience the airport grounds, amazing views of the MGM terminal and participate in a 5K race like no other! You must register as a runner to participate. Children 14 and under must be accompanied by a registered adult. The race will be limited to the first 500 participants. Early registration is encouraged! Registered participants will be able to run or walk the runway.

Swag

The registration fee includes the MGM 5K race shirt (to be worn on race day), bib, MGM water bottle, clear backpack (to be used to bring into race site) and a finishers medal.

Children

For safety considerations, children ages 14 and under are welcome to participate in the race and must be registered with a registered adult. Children must be always accompanied by an adult.

Children who ride in strollers do not need to enter the race, provided they stay in strollers the entire time they are on the course.

Registration $40 per participant.

Packet Pick up

Packets will be available to be picked up at the Montgomery Regional Airport (4445 Selma Highway Montgomery, AL. 36108) MGM Intermodal Building (Taxi Building/Cell Phone Lot) on Thursday, June 8th from 8:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. and Friday, June 9th from 10:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m.

*You must pick up your packet at one of the designated packet pick up locations. Packets will not be mailed after the race.

Q: “Can someone else pick up my race packet on my behalf?”

A: Yes. Please make sure your friend has a copy of your driver license or run signup confirmation on hand for the packet pickup staff.

The Course

MGM Race course stickerThe course features a 5K run, which is the length of the runway. All in-person runners must be able to complete the course and be off the runway by 8:30 a.m. A courtesy vehicle will be out at 8:45 a.m. to pick up anyone who has not completed the course so that it can be reopened for aircraft traffic.

Spectators

Family members and friends will be allowed in the designated spectator area to cheer on runners. All spectators will be subject to search through security screeners. Please have a photo ID ready upon entry. All spectators must ride the MGM shuttle to access the MGM 5K Event Site.

Awards

Awards will be given out based on overall top male and female. Awards will also be given out to overall top three in each category.

Medals

All registered running participants will receive an MGM Runway 5K participation medal.

Awards Ceremony

The Montgomery Regional Airport will highlight the winners from the race during the Awards Ceremony.
