Share The Road, Remembering Raymond Butler 5k

We will host our inaugural 5k running/walking race, “Share The Road, Remembering Raymond Butler 5k” on June 10, 2023 in Eclectic, AL. The start and finish will be in front of Elmore County High School.  

Raymond was an avid cyclist, runner, canoeist, and overall athlete even at 74 years of age. He was riding his bike home from work on August 29, 2022 when 0.3 miles from his home he was struck by a car and succumbed to his massive internal injuries the next day.

Come run or walk with us to remember Raymond and raise awareness that roads are meant to be shared. Bikers have the same legal right as a vehicle to use the roadway therefore drivers need to watch for them and pass with care. Remember that just one second of distraction can take a life.

Awards will be given for the overall male and female finisher.

Additional awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place male and female finishers in each of the following age groups:

0-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+
