A Message From Governor Ivey
First and foremost, I would like to begin by thanking you all from the bottom of my heart for your support. We have a lot of great things happening in Alabama, but we still have much more work ahead. As I have said before, the best is yet to come!
Speaking of the state’s momentum, just last Friday, I was thrilled to announce that, once again, Alabama has reached our lowest unemployment rate in the state’s history at 2.8 percent. We have the most people working than at any point before, record high wages, and we just came off one of the best years in the books in terms of new investments and job creation.
You will see an image of my visit to Conecuh County further down in the newsletter, but during the stop, I announced that Alabama’s tourism industry is booming. This is especially encouraging as we head into the summer season. Last year, Alabama saw 47 percent more tourists vacationing here than in the previous year, and those tourists spent close to a whopping $20 billion. Alabama, after some aggressive marketing from our tourism department, was the fourth most searched for state, according to the U.S. Travel Association. The secret is certainly out on Alabama, and that is that we are the best place to live, work, and raise a family, as well as a great place to visit, relax and play. Truly, there is something for everyone.
As I travel the state and speak to different audiences, I always say that I know all of us are proud to call Alabama home. Something I know we are grateful for is that we support our military and honor those who have served. This Memorial Day, let us never forget the cost of protecting our freedom. Let us never forget the brave men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice to safeguard the liberties our wonderful country was founded on, and we should never ever take those for granted. Stay safe and have a wonderful weekend. May God continue to bless each of you, the great state of Alabama and these United States of America!

Proclamation Spotlight: Down To Earth Day
Did you know that every two seconds someone in the United States needs blood or platelets? Approximately 29,000 units of red blood cells are needed every day in our country, and as Alabamians, it is important that we do our part and donate blood when possible. Each year, World Blood Donor Day is recognized across the country to bring awareness to this critical issue and signal support for blood donors and blood donor organizations. One donation can help save more than one life, and I’m proud to have issued this proclamation in support of Alabama’s blood-donating heroes! If you would like to make a donation, please visit redcrossblood.org and schedule an appointment!
