Nature Of Work
Advanced EMT as licensed by the Alabama Department of Public Health as having successfully completed an approved course of instruction and is in substantial compliance with all additional requirements, may render advanced emergency medical care to the sick and injured at the scene of an emergency and during transport to a hospital until such time as patient care responsibility can be assumed by hospital personnel.

Minimum Qualifications And Educational Requirements
Training and experience equivalent to:
- Must be 18 years of age
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to meet minimum physical fitness standards.
- Must have successfully completed Advanced EMT Course and be licensed by the State of Alabama.
- Valid Alabama driver’s license with the ability to be insured by the city’s liability insurance carrier.
- Must be able to obtain Alabama Firefighter I/II Certification within 12 months of employment.
