JOB SUMMARY: This position participates in the construction, operation, and maintenance of the city’s wastewater collection system. An incumbent in this position may be designated “Wastewater Collection Worker” or “Wastewater Collection Technician II.”
MAJOR DUTIES: Participates in the installation, maintenance, and repair of the wastewater collection system. Inspects new assets prior to acceptance by Water Services. Inspects sewer manholes to document condition and complete rehabilitation as needed. Maintains, repairs, and cleans lift stations. Installs sewer mains, manholes, and services. Operates CCTV equipment to identify blockages and perform and document condition assessments. Operates a jet truck to clean sewer lines. Makes post-construction repairs to streets, sidewalks, landscaping, and lawns. Reports sanitary sewer overflows to ADEM and takes appropriate action. Locates and makes sewer taps for customers. Performs line locate tasks for city and third-party construction and excavation. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and tools. Provides information to customers and assist in resolving customer problems. Performs related duties.
