City announces activities for Halloween, sets trick-or-treat hours
Fall in love with the City of Enterprise this month during one of the many festive activities planned:
Oct. 15: Boll Weevil Fall Festival
Oct. 22: Enterprise Farmer’s Market Pumpkin Day
Oct. 28: Spooky in the City
Oct. 29: Trick or Treat on Main Street
Oct. 31: Halloween
“From clowns to cowboys and pirates to princesses, we want to encourage parents to bring their kids to these festive fall events,” said Tammy Doerer, Director of Tourism and Community Relations. “Whether you’re riding in the car, visiting various stops with Spooky in the City, or going door to door trick-or-treating along Main Street, we’ve tried to create fun, interactive activities that all ages will enjoy.”
The Boll Weevil Fall Festival is this Saturday, Oct. 15 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown Enterprise. The free event showcases Main Street merchants and restaurants, handcrafted gifts, décor and art, festival food, entertainment and more. The Enterprise Police Department will be on site and have a space designated to sign up participants for Project S.N.A.P. The Enterprise Fire Department will also have a space and will be sharing resources as part of fire prevention week.
Next Saturday, Oct. 22, is the return of the Enterprise Farmers Market Pumpkin Day. The annual tradition is sure to be a hit with the entire family. Kids will be able to paint and decorate a pumpkin, free of charge, while supplies last. The Welcome Ceremony begins at 8 a.m. and the winners of the Pumpkin Painting Contest will be announced at 11:30 a.m. As always, shoppers will enjoy fresh, seasonal produce, as wells as local honey, jams, jellies, and baked goods. There will also be a variety of crafts including handmade soaps, jewelry, embroidered items, wood products and more.
Spooky in the City returns Friday, Oct. 28 starting at 5:30 p.m. Hosted by Enterprise Parks and Recreation, this family-friendly activity features a free virtual game where participants collect goodies along the way at each spooky stop. Teams who visit all stops will be entered to win prizes donated by local businesses.
Downtown Enterprise is hosting Trick or Treat on Main Street on Saturday, Oct. 29 starting at 10 a.m. Participating businesses will hang an orange ribbon on the door. Goodies will be given out to kids, while supplies last.
Finally, in the City of Enterprise, trick-or-treat hours will be 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31. Enterprise City Council decided at the meeting on Aug. 16 that these trick-or-treat hours will remain the same through 2025.
As always, adults are reminded of basic safety tips for Halloween-related activities.
“Children should wear bright colors, add reflective tape to their costumes, and carry either a flashlight or glow sticks at night,” Police Chief Michael Moore said. “Remind kids to look both ways before they cross the street and only cross at an intersection. At the same time, drivers should keep an eye out for trick-or-treaters on roadways, sidewalks, medians and curbs. This will ensure everyone has a fun and safe evening.”
