City Planner/Grant Specialist PBI/9, Grade 17

This position performs professional planning duties in support of the positive development of the City of Eufaula........
-    Provides guidance for development proposals prior to submission.
-    Provides information to the public regarding development and planning issues.
-    Reviews and processes plats for compliance.
-    Review and process variances, rezoning, site plan applications for compliance with the zoning ordinance.
-    Conduct Planning Commission, Zoning Board of Adjustment, Historic Preservation Commission and Planning Commission meetings as well as prepare the agendas, public notices and reports.
-    Creates staff reports and maps for the Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Adjustment, Historic Preservation Commission and City Council.
-    Review alterations to properties in the historic district to ensure compliance with design guidelines, architectural standards and state regulations.
-    Provides technical analysis for the Planning Commission, Historic Preservation Commission and the Board of Zoning Adjustment.
-    Search for, Prepare and Submit grant proposals for City Departments as needed.
-    Coordinates with other local, state, and federal agencies.
-    Attends meetings, seminars and training sessions as required.
-    Performs related duties.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: - Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field. - Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of this position. This type of experience is usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one or two years. - Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

Special Requirements
- Knowledge of planning and zoning theories, principles, and practices. - Knowledge of the city zoning ordinance and other city regulations and policies. - Knowledge of city and department policies and procedures. - Knowledge of state and local planning, zoning and subdivision regulations. - Knowledge of comprehensive planning principles. - Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs. - Skill in the interpretation of laws, ordinances, reports and technical data. - Skill in conducting research and preparing reports. - Skill in oral and written communication.
