The phases of progression are: 1) a CSPIRE crew comes out and places flags on your property.  The white flag indicates the back of the right of way, and the pink flags indicate where they plan to place a hand hold (the location which is eventually used to connect to service, if you subscribe with them); 2) USIC comes out and marks utilities, 3) a CSPIRE crew installs the network and hand holds.  If you have questions, please call their construction line at 205-582-1009.

Resident Input Meeting
Monday, Feb. 27 at 5pm at City Hall

There will be a meeting on Monday to discuss changes to the Morris/ Sterrett traffic calming installation.   At the meeting, there will a project update and a guided conversation around potential alternatives to the existing installation.  Councilor Jones and I, Cale Smith (City Engineer) and Clark Bailey (Kimley Horn) are all scheduled to attend at this time.

On Monday, Feb. 20, the Public Safety Committee discussed this project, and this resident input meeting will both inform the consideration of rescinding the related resolution (Council agenda for Monday, Feb. 27 at 6pm), and the continued discussion of the item in Public Safety on Monday, March 6.

Jefferson County Environmental Services has started a large diameter rehab project on sanitary sewers in Wards 3 and 4. The project runs along Griffin Brook creek and South Forest from Edgewood to Saulter, and will last several months.

The contractor started work by fusing pipe earlier this month, and Suncoast was scheduled to roll a CCTV crew into town last week to start measuring pipes and potentially cleaning on some of the lines depending on the flow level in the pipes.

The project consists of “lining” pipes, so there won’t be much excavation.  However, they will be running by-pass pumps, so it will be noisy.  The contractor has been asked to stay in close touch will all residents that will be affected.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Tad Powell with Hazen Sawyer at tpowell@hazenandsawyer.com
