From: City of Huntsville

Random Acts Of Kindness: The City of Huntsville is celebrating Random Acts of Kindness Day today (Feb. 17) by sharing social media posts showcasing municipal departments performing acts of kindness. This is a great time to show our commitment to making our community and world better – one compliment, gift or act of service at a time. By seeing City departments participate in the challenge, we hope others feel encouraged to do the same. Need ideas? Get inspired today. more

Triple-A Status

Moody’s and Standard & Poor's have again awarded Huntsville triple-A credit ratings, given to only a minority of governments. The ratings reflect our strong economic position and fiscal management. Citizens can feel confident the City is prudent with tax dollars, using debt wisely and focusing on capital projects that matter most to our community.

Talking Shop

Mayor Battle had a great meeting this week with Alabama Lt. Gov Will Ainsworth, who spoke to our regional growth partners at the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce. During the visit, Mayor Battle and Lt. Gov. Ainsworth had a productive discussion about important issues facing Huntsville.

New Leadership

We send our sincere congratulations to new Madison County Commission Chairman Mac McCutcheon, who took the oath of office Wednesday during a swearing-in ceremony attended by family, friends and local officials at the Madison County Courthouse. Chairman McCutcheon is and will continue to be a great partner for the City of Huntsville.

Hays Family Commitment

In a progressive city, you’ll often find people working behind the scenes to ensure growth occurs in a smart, sustainable way. Huntsville’s Hays family is one such example. The Hays have gifted over 1,300 acres of land and millions of dollars in infrastructure improvements to the City for new schools, rights-of-way for multiple major road projects, a K-9 training facility and more. more

A Need For Speed

The City approved an agreement last week with Seven States Power Corporation to place DC fast chargers for electric vehicles inside the municipal parking garage at 309 Pelham Ave. near Publix. While the construction timeline is fluid, they are looking at a late summer 2023 opening.  more
