ON THE MOVE: Good things are coming to the City's transit system. This week, Huntsville Transit and public transportation consultant Nelson\Nygaard presented a new Transit Improvement Plan, which includes feedback gathered from a broad range of stakeholders.
The final five-phase plan yielded several recommendations, including service on Sunday, more frequent service and later service. Riders also want service to new areas as well as new crosstown service. Expanded paratransit service, improved pedestrian crossings and bus stops, and potential partnerships with universities and colleges were also recommended. > more

City of Huntsville Clerk-Treasurer Ken Benion will retire Feb. 28, following a successful 13-year career directing three municipal departments during a time of unprecedented growth. AUTOGRAPH HOTEL
Officials broke ground this week on the new Marriott Autograph Trilogy Hotel, an eight-floor facility with 215 rooms and 150,000 square feet of build space. It will feature a rooftop restaurant/bar, ballroom space and the largest Starbucks in Alabama. We thank those who helped make this important project happen.
THE PARK AT HAYS FARM
Huntsville upped its commitment from $3.6 million to $4.6 million for construction and development of the new Hays Farm Park. In turn, developer, Hylis Inc., led by John Hays, will provide another $1 million toward the project, bringing the budget to $5.6 million. The funding will allow the City to fully realize the scope of the park, which will be a significant quality-of-life amenity for our community. > more
