SPOTLIGHT OF THE WEEK
STATE OF THE ARTS: Arts Huntsville's annual celebration of the arts saluted the 21 recipients of the 2023 Huntsville Arts & Cultural Grant Program. Now in its 11th year, the City-funded program provides grants to local arts organizations that provide cultural activities for our community. Mayor Battle called the $280,000 fund a good investment in quality of life, one that supports smaller arts efforts to make Huntsville an enjoyable and unique place. more

NET ZERO AT MIDCITY
A new 328-unit multifamily development broke ground in MidCity District, the first of its kind in the southeastern U.S. to achieve net-zero energy status. The $108 million property will reduce its carbon footprint by utilizing solar PV panels, smart thermostats and a reflective roof, among other features. more
OAKWOOD ADDS CYCLING LANES
New bike lanes and pedestrian improvements on Oakwood Avenue reflect the City’s goal to improve multimodal transportation. The resurfacing project stemmed from public input requesting more connectivity options. More importantly, by converting a four-lane road to three-lanes, the City is providing a safer infrastructure for drivers and bicyclists. more
DAY OF SERVICE
This hard-working crew from Vulcan Materials Company held its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Service Day at Hays Nature Preserve. They gave the City's natural playground a makeover by restaining playground equipment, spreading mulch and clearing underbrush. Thank you, Vulcan volunteers!

CEA offers a series of free classes where citizens engage with municipal leaders and learn multiple ways of getting involved with local government. Applications are open for this spring's six-week program. more
