City of Huntsville Mayor Battle's Weekly Update - March 3, 2023

THE BIAS INSIDE US: The City of Huntsville and HudsonAlpha will co-host the acclaimed Smithsonian exhibition, “The Bias Inside Us,” from April 24 to May 20. Mayor Battle and HudsonAlpha President Neil Lamb said the community engagement exhibition is about the science of thinking, how our brains subconsciously process information, and how we think the way we do. Mayor Battle hopes the exhibition will spark thoughtful conversations to inspire and challenge us to build a better community and world. more

DOWNTOWN'S BEST
Downtown Huntsville Inc. hosted its annual awards ceremony to recognize the best of the best. Mayor Battle served as the keynote speaker and highlighted downtown's progress, in images, over the past 40 years. Congratulations to the following winners: Advocates of the year, Wesley and Meggan Crunkleton; New project/business of the year, The Bakingtist; Event of the Year, Huntsville Comic & Pop Culture Expo.

FOND FAREWELL
Clerk-Treasurer Ken Benion officially retired this week following a successful 13-year career with the City of Huntsville. Benion, a CPA with more than four decades of financial experience, directed three municipal departments during a time of unprecedented growth. Please join us in wishing Ken all the pleasures of a well-deserved retirement.
