Operation Christmas Clean Up is a collection event where area residents can recycle their Christmas trees, flattened and broken-down cardboard boxes, batteries, and old electronics. To recycle a live Christmas tree, participants must remove all lights and ornaments. Items that?will not?be accepted are artificial trees, wrapping paper, and packaging materials (Styrofoam, plastic, straps).

“Over the past three years, we have seen residents far and wide take advantage of these drop-off locations. Operation Christmas Clean Up affords our community the opportunity to divert materials away from our landfill and to responsibly dispose of materials that can potentially harm the environment.” said John “Doc” Holladay, Executive Director of the Solid Waste Disposal Authority of the City of Huntsville. “We are thankful for our partners that team with RANA to provide these convenient locations for residents to drop off their trees and extra holiday items.”

“Our goal with this annual event is to offer Huntsville area residents a convenient place to recycle all the extra items that have accumulated during the holiday season,” said Jesse Davis, Landfill Manager of the Solid Waste Disposal Authority of the City of Huntsville.

This will be the only opportunity to recycle Christmas trees in the City of Huntsville, City of Madison, and Madison County. In case of rain, the event will be rescheduled on Saturday, January 14.
