STAY WEATHER AWARE: Please stay weather aware as the system named Tropical Depression #9, as of Friday afternoon, develops over the next few days in the Caribbean. There are no forecast threats to our area at this time but never let your guard down. This weekend is a good time to double-check your hurricane preparedness plans and your kit. Follow the National Weather Service's Mobile bureau at https://www.weather.gov/srh/tropical?office=mob, and local meteorologists for the latest and most accurate information.

It's 'Clue' weekend - Performing Arts Center

Join the City of Orange Beach Expect Excellence Community Theatre for a weekend performance of "Clue: On Stage" TONIGHT (Friday, September 23rd) through Sunday, September 25th at the Orange Beach Performing Arts Center's main stage. Tonight's show and Saturday's will start at 7 p.m. The Sunday matinee will begin at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $15 per person - general admission for all ages. Purchase tickets at https://www.onthestage.tickets/show/city-of-orange-beach or at the Performing Arts Center box office from 2 p.m.-6 p.m. on weekdays. The box office can be reached at 251-923-0043.

Thank you, Surf Rescue!

With fall officially underway, it's due time to give a shout-out to Orange Beach Surf Rescue for all of the hard work "protecting paradise," along with police and fire, all summer long.

While the lifeguard stands have been removed from the beach, lifeguards will continue patrols until October 31st. 

It's been a busy season. Below are the statistics for Orange Beach Surf Rescue for the 2022 season, March 1st to September 23rd: 

Minor First Aids: 52

Major First Aids: 21

Missing Persons: 23

Rescues: 157

Calls for Service: 19

Public Assist: 1,441

Boat Incidents: 4

Code Enforcement: 403

Drowning: 1

Freedom Fest - Next Weekend

Map out your plans to be at the 2nd Annual Orange Beach Freedom Fest next weekend at The Wharf. Festival hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, September 30th and Saturday, October 1st. The benefit concert and patriotic speakers event will begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 2nd. 

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY - SEPT. 30-OCT. 1

Friday and Saturday will feature arts & crafts, food, free music, Bama Coast Cruisin’ car show, Island Time Jeepers meet on Friday and the 2nd Annual Let Freedom Roar Run and Rally on Saturday, children’s activities and more. A stage at Marlin Circle will be home to an iHeart Radio DJ on Friday and Saturday. 

On Friday and Saturday, the entertainment lineup, organized by the Flora-Bama, includes the following live music on the stage on the arts and crafts side of the festival: Friday, September 30th - 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. - Tony Brook; 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. - Dew Pendleton; 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. - Christina Christian; and 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. - The KricketsSaturday, October 1st - 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. - David Chastang; 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. - Al and Cathy; 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. - Charlie Argo; 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. - Johnny Hayes.

Friday and Saturday will be full of more than 70 arts and crafts vendors selling a wide variety of wares. Military groups and nonprofits will also be on hand.

The Orange Beach Police Department will run a Kids Fun Zone next to the Wharf Ferris wheel on Main Street in The Grove. Sales from two Pepsi trailers at the festival will benefit the Orange Beach Police Department Benevolent Fund. 

The food selection will have something for everyone, and beer, provided by the Makos Academics, Arts and Athletics Club as a fundraiser. 

Parking will be available at The Wharf. A shuttle system will also run from the Orange Beach Sportsplex on Friday and Saturday, and at the Orange Beach Middle / High School parking lot on Saturday only. On-site festival parking on Friday and Saturday will be directed by Orange Beach City Schools with donations accepted for programs at Orange Beach schools.
