Join Us for the Highway 31 Charrette!

Mark your calendar for the Highway 31 South Planning Charrette! The former Days Inn property will be demolished soon and everyone wants to know what will be built in its place. Community members, along with other stakeholders, are invited to participate in a planning charrette – a creative brainstorming event to develop a shared vision for the future of the Highway 31 corridor.

“Autumn is the hardest season. The leaves are all falling, and they’re falling like they’re falling in love with the ground.” — Andrea Gibson

Storm drains are designed to allow water to quickly drain away after a heavy rainfall, but if they become blocked or clogged, serious flooding issues can result. So, what to do with all of the fallen leaves, pine straw and other small yard debris? If your answer is to blow it into the street … guess again! (If you have a yard service, be sure to remind them to not blow yard debris into the streets, ditches, etc.)

If you see yard debris being blown in the storm drain, report it in the Action Center or call 205.978.0100.
