Educational Opportunities

ACT Weekend Workshop

Saturday, December 2, from 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Sunday, December 3, from 2:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

This two-day ACT weekend workshop will help prepare them with content prep and a practice test. Students will need to bring a notebook or laptop, pencil, calculator, and bottled beverage/snack. $40 per teen. A pizza lunch is included on Saturday. Register online at homewoodpubliclibrary.org/act.

Character Design 101

Friday, December 1 & 15, from 4-5 p.m. in Room 109

(6th-12th Grade) Kane Bourgeois is here to teach you the ins and outs of drawing characters! Learn the basics of character design, color theory, and more. All supplies will be provided for traditional art, but feel free to bring your digital art equipment (iPad, tablet, etc). Register for each session online at homewoodpubliclibrary.org.

Monday, December 4, from 4-6 p.m. in Room 110

Teen Theatre Thursdays

Thursday, December 7 & 21, from 4-5 p.m. in Round Auditorium

End of the Year Crochet Circle

Friday, December 29, from 1-2 p.m. in Room 110

(4th-12th Grade) Tweens and teens, welcome to Friday night(day) crochet circle! This is a monthly event where we will sit our chairs in circles, and crochet together. Experienced masters and complete newbies both are both welcome. We will provide all supplies, but you are also welcome to bring any projects you are currently working on. Magic: the Gathering Deck Building Event

Friday, December 8, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. in Room 110.

(6th-12th Grade) Interested in playing Magic: the Gathering? The first thing you will need is a deck to play this battle game. We will be available to show players the basics of building their own Magic: the Gathering decks. All cards will be provided by a generous donation by a patron. Open to 4th-12th graders. Sunday, December 17th, from 3-5 p.m. in Room 102

(6th-12th Grade) Come together and hang out inside in this chilly time of year, we'll bring the movie and the popcorn! Dungeons and Dragons fans should be excited about what we're showing! Rated: PG13. No registration required.

Teen Anime Club - The Holiday Episode

Tuesday, December 19, 3-5 p.m. in Room 109

(6th-12th Grade) Schools out, let's celebrate! Some anime have special themed episodes that diverge entirely from the story. Famous examples of this includes: the beach episode, the body swap, and... the holiday episode. We're going to have our very own holiday episode where we watch holiday themed anime episodes, do a cool anime activity, and eat the meal of the holidays in Japan: KFC!. (6th-12th Grade) The Teen Advisory Board is a volunteer group of 6th-12th graders who are dedicated to serving the Homewood Public Library.
