6 Word Story Contest for Teens

February 1–28

Legend has it that Ernest Hemingway placed a bet that he could write a story in just six words. If the legend is true, he won with “For Sale: Baby Shoes, Never Worn.” Now it is your turn! The Homewood Public Library is challenging any 6th-12th grader in Jefferson County to write a story with just six words. Students can submit two original six word stories via the library’s website. If submitting two stories, please submit them one at a time. Our judges will read each story and determine 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place winners. Winners will be announced in March.

Grown-ish - Bare Essential Cooking

Wednesday, February 1, 4-6 p.m. in Large Auditorium

(6th-12th Grade) A program series designed to equip teens with life skills for adulthood. This month, teens will learn about the bare essentials for cooking a tasty and budget-friendly meal. Register online at homewoodpubliclibrary.org.
 

Teen Theatre Thursdays

Thursday, February 2 & 16, 4-5 p.m. in Round Auditorium

(6th-12th Grade) This bi-monthly program will focus on teaching the performing arts to aspiring teen thespians with assistance from the Red Mountain Theatre.Register online at homewoodpubliclibrary.org.

Teen Advisory Board (TAB)

Thursday, February 2, 6-7 p.m. in Large Auditorium

(6th-12th Grade) The Teen Advisory Board is a volunteer group of 6th-12th graders who are dedicated to serving the Homewood Public Library. Teen Watercolor Painting

Sundays, February 5 & 26, 3-5 p.m. in Room 102
