ONE FOR THE ROAD: Mazda Toyota leaders joined Gov. Kay Ivey and Mayor Battle for a celebratory grand opening at the Mazda Toyota Manufacturing (MTM) plant. Toyota Motor Corporation CEO Akio Toyoda and Mazda Motor Corporation CEO Akira Marumoto led guests on a tour of the $2.3 billion facility. The joint venture is creating 4,000 new jobs and will have the capacity to assemble up to 300,000 vehicles each year. MTM is Alabama's largest economic development investment in the last decade.
ARMED FORCES SALUTE
Armed Forces Week generated activities across Huntsville to honor military and civilian personnel at Redstone. The weeklong celebration kicked off with a proclamation signing with (Ret.) Major Gen. Jim Myles, Madison Mayor Paul Finley, Lt. Gen. Donnie Walker, Madison County Commission Chair Dale Strong and Mayor Battle. The leadership team also competed in a spirited community softball game at Toyota Field between Team Redstone and The Rockets. While Mayor Battle and The Rockets lost 11-14, it's great to see our military on the winning team!
