Trussville Public Library Newsletter - January 2023

Happening next month at the Library!
January Holiday Closures
The Trussville Public Library will be closed Saturday, December 31st through Monday, January 2nd for the New Year holiday. The library will resume all services on Tuesday, January 3rd at 9:00 am.
The library will also be closed Monday, January 16th in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.  All services will resume on Tuesday, January 3rd.
All due dates for library materials will be automatically adjusted for these holiday closures.

Pokemon Club

Thursday, Jan. 12th  |  4:00 pm

Spend time playing Pokémon or enjoy watching a classic Pokémon show and creating a craft! Kids are welcome to bring their own cards, and parents are welcome to join us at the end of the program to monitor their child's trading. Extra playing decks will be available for use during the program.

This club is open to 1st - 5th grade students. Registration Required

Middle Grade Book Club

Thursday, Jan. 26th |  5:00 pm

Read or listen to Mr. Popper's Peguins by Florance and Richard Atwater before the program. Then join us for a special event as we discuss the book, play games, and make Penguin Snowglobes. Light snacks will be provided. 

This book club is a 2-part series meeting on January 26th & February 23rd. January's meeting will discuss Chapters 1-10. 

This program is best for 3rd - 6th grade students.

Teen Advisory Board

Tuesday, Jan. 10th  |  4:00 pm

TAB is the place for local teens to get involved with their library. We meet monthly to discuss popular books, movies, shows, and what you would like to see in our library. We will also discuss programming and take part in projects to benefit the library. Open to 8th to 12 grade. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.

ACT Test Prep Class

Jan. 21st & 22nd

Prepare for your upcoming ACT with a two-part prep class on January 21st from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and January 22nd from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The class will be conducted in person in the library auditorium. Saturday will be an extensive review session and the Sunday will feature a practice test. Students will need to bring a notebook, pencil, and calculator. Lunch will be provided on Saturday. The fee for BOTH days of the class is $43.50.

Join a Book Club in the New Year!

Books & Brews - Monday, January 9th 

7:15 pm at Ferus Artisan Ales

Connect with your community and share your thoughts about this month's book while enjoying delicious food and drinks at Ferus. We will meet each month on the second Monday of the month at 7:15 PM in the event room at Ferus. Visit the event calendar to see all the books we will be reading this Spring. This month's book: The End of Men by Christina Sweeney-Baird

Adult Book Club - Wednesday, January 18th 

2:00 pm at Trussville Library

This book club meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 2:00 PM. Contact the Adult Dept (205-655-2022 or tr.adult@jclc.org) if you need assistance in obtaining the book. Visit the event calendar to see all the books we will be reading this Spring. This month's book: Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus

Craftapalooza!

Tuesday, Jan. 17th |  6:00 pm

We have so many supplies left over from previous craft programs and nowhere to put them so we want to see what you can do with it all! Make whatever you want out of the supplies provided, the most creative project will win a prize. The possibilities are endless! The only limit is your imagination...
