About Us:

Established in 1970 by a group of citizens dedicated to the arts, the Arts and Humanities Council of Tuscaloosa County, Inc. is the Arts Division of the Tuscaloosa County Park and Recreation Authority. The Council serves as the umbrella organization for 40 plus Member Organizations, promotes the arts within the county and West Central Alabama and manages the historic Bama Theatre.

Member Organizations are local non-profit arts and cultural groups that contribute to the local arts scene through their programming and educational services. The Council encourages and supports their efforts through activities such as the Small Grants program, workshops, advocacy, discounts for the rental of the Bama Theatre and the publication of a calendar of events and Jubilation magazine.

The Arts Council presents programming for all ages at the Bama Theatre, featuring concerts highlighting both rising stars and established, world famous musicians, and an educational series. Educational programming also includes the scheduling of individual artists and performing ensembles at local schools for presentations, theatrical productions and concerts. Located in the Bama Theatre, the Junior League Gallery serves as an exhibit space for local artists including personal exhibits and competitions sponsored by The Arts Council.
