Activities

Fishing is the main attraction at the park and Lake Frank Jackson is specially stocked and managed for prime freshwater fishing. Bass, bream, crappie and catfish are abundant. Boat launch ramps and a grassy beach provide water access for boaters, paddlers and swimmers. A handicap-accessible fishing platform is located at the northwest end of the dam and is accessible from Highway 42.

Nature

A pedestrian bridge spanning a section of Lake Frank Jackson eases the trip between the playground and campground areas; as well as serves as a wetland wildlife viewing area. Various birds, fish and other animals are regular sights from the bridge. The peaceful sounds of the lake lapping through the aquatic vegetation highlight a quality of life that state parks offer.

Camping

Facilities at Frank Jackson State Park include a handicap accessible bathhouse, picnic pavilion/shelter and walkway located adjacent to the campground. There are 32 RV campsites with Wi-Fi Internet and cable service. Three of these sites are handicap accessible. All sites include water, electricity, sewer, and cable. You may tent camp in the RV sites at the regular rate.

Fishing

Lake Frank Jackson is specially stocked and managed for prime freshwater fishing. Bass, bream, crappie, and catfish are abundant. Each April, anglers converge on the Park for a bass fishing tournament. Boat launch ramps and a grassy beach provide water access for boaters, canoe paddlers, and swimmers. A handicap accessible fishing platform is located at the northwest end of the dam and is accessible from Highway 42.  The Park includes a two-lane concrete boat ramp.

Trails

The park features approximately 3 miles of easy walking trails. A boardwalk/bridge leading from the boat ramp/parking area to the island, is one of the many unique features at Frank Jackson State Park. A short walking trail loops around the island, which provides limited access to the shoreline. An educational kiosk is located at the trail entrance and provides information on birds and small mammals, which may be seen in the park.
