About Us:

The Princess Theatre is a regional gathering place, serving as a generational bridge presenting local and professional artists with the support of the community, businesses, and state and local governments. Through education, entertainment, and cultural enrichment, the Princess Theatre Center for the Performing Arts will continue to be a landmark, reflecting the history of Decatur and providing transformative artistic experiences for a multicultural and diverse population.

Since 1983, the Princess Theatre has presented an array of outstanding cultural events, including such award-winning artists as Ray Charles, Cloris Leachman, Loretta Swit and Arlo Guthrie. Programming highlights included the national tours of Broadway musicals such as EVITA, BIG RIVER, NUNSENSE and WILL ROGERS  FOLLIES, and concerts by the Glenn Miller Orchestra, jazz greats Dianne Reeves and Chris Botti, bluegrass legends Del McCoury and J.D. Crowe, Jon Batiste and Stay Human and St. Paul and the Broken Bones.

Local performing groups make their home on the Princess stage, presenting children's theatre, choral concerts, musicals, dance and theatre. Located in downtown Decatur’s New Decatur/Albany Historic District, the Princess Theatre Center for the Performing Arts serves the community as a 677-seat venue that presents a variety of arts events, provides a multipurpose rental facility, serves as an arts in education resource, and preserves one of the city’s most significant buildings.

The Princess Theatre Center for the Performing Arts is committed to being a hospitable environment for all people, regardless of race, spiritual belief, sexual orientation, gender identity, ability or socio-economic status.
