City Of Madison : Street Sweeping Program 2023

From: City Of Madison
January 2, 2023

Beginning the week of January 3rd, street sweeping will begin on all curb and gutter streets in the City of Madison.  Sweeping will begin in the northwest quadrant of the city and move east. Weather permitting; the street sweeping will be completed in approximately 5 weeks.  We ask that residents refrain from parking on or placing any items in the streets between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.  Yard debris, trash receptacles and recycling carts should be placed directly behind the curb for your weekly pick-up. This is a one-time sweeping and the street sweeper will drive around any blockage within the street and will not return to sweep at a later date.

The street sweeping program is aimed at improving the quality of storm water runoff by removing contaminants from the street before they can enter the storm system. The City of Madison would like to remind citizens to keep leaves, grass clippings, trash and fertilizers away from ditches, gutters or storm drains. Never dump motor oil, chemicals, pet waste, dirty or soapy water, or any other contaminant into the storm drainage system.
